The government is set to launch one of Greece’s most important research and innovation projects in the form of a state-of-the-art technology park in Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki and a startup hub in southeastern Europe.

Spread over 76 hectares in the city of Thermaikos, the park is said to be the largest in the Balkans.

The Deputy Minister for Development and Investment, Christos Dimas, is overseeing the project, which aims to build a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 4th generation technology, including industrial laboratories, machinery, computer equipment and extensive infrastructure. It is said that it is to develop the structure. Incubators and accelerators, flexible office spaces, collaboration and networking areas, theme parks for education and recreation, conference centers, bike paths and green spaces.

To date, more than 70 important and cutting-edge companies, universities and research institutes have signed MoUs with Thess INTEC. The project is included in the recovery fund and will be funded with approximately 35 million euros.
