Introducing the ECO suite and energy management system

Chicago, September 12, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Executive Leadership Team of Okuma America Corporation is pleased to announce the release of next-generation energy management and optimization technology designed specifically for Okuma CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine tools. This new software-driven technology, ECO suite plus, will be demonstrated for the first time in the Western Hemisphere on two Okuma machines (MB-80V bridge mill and his MA-8000H machining center) at booth #338500 at the International Manufacturing Fair 2022. .at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, Illinoisupon September 12 – 17th July 2022.

Commitment to sustainability
ECO Suite Plus Technology is the company’s latest addition to its suite of products designed to support global and corporate sustainability initiatives. The first sustainable product development began in 1963 with the launch of Okuma’s proprietary numerical control system. In 2001, the company furthered its commitment to sustainability with the Thermo-Friendly Concept, a technical design for managing thermal temperature ranges during the machining process. In 2014, the company released its first ECO Suite system, which allows macro-level monitoring and control of machine usage. Today the company is pleased to announce its next generation technology, his ECO suite plus. It builds on previous technology releases by providing management and control of specific machine operations and peripherals during the machining process and in idle mode. Both the Thermo-Friendly Concept and his ECO Technology are enhanced by Okuma’s own His OSP Control, a Windows-based open architecture platform that offers users maximum machining capabilities.

List of ECO suite plus functions
ECO suite plus technology includes several features that assist in energy saving opportunities such as:

  • ECO idling stop
The application’s ECO start-stop function monitors the cooling stays of milling and turning spindles. Once the spindle temperatures have stabilized, the coolers for these spindles will automatically turn off.
  • ECO power monitor
The ECO Power Monitor feature shows the power consumption of various components directly on the machine tool display. This includes the power consumption of spindles, feed axes and peripherals. Operators can see at a glance the total energy saved without the need for data exports or separate smart devices.
  • Additional optional features
    • ECO Hydraulics – Utilizes SERVO technology to actively monitor hydraulic demand and activate hydraulic pumps to maintain required pressure.
    • If you have multiple peripherals, we recommend ECO operation, in which the peripherals are activated only when necessary and turned off after processing is complete.
