Industry-wide adoption increased by 0.39% in August 2022 compared to July 2022.

Of the tech industry’s total employment activity, IT jobs accounted for 29.53% share in August 2022, down 0.61% from the average share over the past three months.

The top five roles accounted for a 95.88% share of total IT recruitment activity in the Australian tech industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a 37.05% share in August 2022, registering a 9.09% growth from the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a share of 28.13%, down 5.2% from the previous month.

3) Database and network administrators and architects accounted for 15.44% share, up 11.11% from July 2022.

4) Computer support specialists gained 9.26% share, up 10.2% from the previous month.

Top 5 tech companies by IT recruitment activity in Australia in August 2022

The top five companies tracked by GlobalData by vacancies account for a combined average growth rate of 39.56% share of total IT recruitment activity in the Australian tech industry from July 2022 to August 2022.

Infosys posted 78 IT jobs in August 2022, marking a 27.78% decrease from the previous month. ICF International followed with 76 jobs and flat growth. Microsoft, which posted 39 IT jobs in August 2022, and Cognizant Technology Solutions, which posted 38 jobs, posted growth of 160% and a decline of 9.52% respectively, while Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson posted 23 jobs. Recorded a 35.29% increase in job postings.

Junior level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior level jobs accounted for 64.15% share, up 21.43% from July 2022. Mid-level positions with a share of 25.04% registered a decrease of 17.98% compared to the previous month.

Entry-level job ads came in third with a 9.43% share, up 1.85% from July 2022. Meanwhile, senior post he accounted for 1.37%, recording an increase of 14.29% over the previous month.
