Muscat: Science, Technology and Innovation (STAI) is a mega-event conducted under the auspices of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools of Oman for the 2022-23 school year and is hosted in a mixed format by Indian School Darsayit. A platform for young minds to explore their talents and apply their creative skills.
STAI seeks to spread interest, nurture curiosity, ignite young minds to think beyond the horizon and feel euphoric as they progress in the fields of math, science and IT.
In this connection, a press conference was held at the Indian School Dalsite on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Dr. Sivakumar Manikam, Director of the Indian School of Oman, who chaired the press conference, shared details of the upcoming mega-event STAI-2022.
Other board members present at the press conference were Syed Salman, Vice Chairman, Ashwini Sawrikar, Finance Director, Sirajdeen Nhelat, Academic Chair, and Vinoba MP Senior Principal and Education Advisor. The press conference was attended by Indian School Darsayit Ajit Vasudevan, Convenor – SMC and Responsible – STAI 2022, and Principal Amar Srivastava.
STAI 2022, with the tagline ‘Ingenious Creative Mind’, showcases talented students from Indian schools across Oman and is the first to bring Sultanate’s private schools under one umbrella. This event attracts science enthusiasts from various schools. Together they share common interests, take in great information, stay in the moment, and accelerate their perspectives and skills for further development in their chosen field.
A total of 18 schools registered about 400 participants to participate in various events in the fields of science, mathematics and IT. It demonstrates an insatiable thirst for creating and presenting entirely new innovations involving code wars, mobile app development, digital symposia, science and mathematics. Exhibitions, science skits, e-magazines. The opening ceremony of the event will be held on his August 27th, followed by an exhibition showcasing the talents of science and mathematics students on September 3rd, followed by a graduation ceremony.
The imagination and effort of aspiring young scientists from classes V to XII in the Junior and Senior categories are set to captivate the audience. The event will be launched by Dr. Ali Saud Al Vimani, Vice Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology.
In his speech, Dr. Sivakumar Manickam thanked administrators, teachers and students of all participating schools for their hard work and time and emphasized the importance of science and technology in children’s lives.
He believes that research and hard work provide students with countless opportunities to advance their careers and pursue areas of interest, enhance their creative theories and adaptations or discoveries, and help them reach greater heights. He added that it can pave the way.
The Chairman elaborated on the Board’s significant achievements over the past two years. The Board initiated the Indian School Virtual Learning Environment and the Samriddhi Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and conducted psychometric assessments for students in Classes IX and X this February. Considering Avenir 2022, we conduct similar tests. All seniors measure skills, talents, and abilities that help them choose a stream or career.
The board has identified 3 renowned institutions in India that conduct online coaching for students preparing for competitive exams such as NEET and JEE. This is something that has long been needed by seniors in the Omani Indian Diaspora.
The participation of private, international and public schools in the recently organized Indian Schools event is highly commendable. All board-scheduled co-educational events were successfully conducted online during the pandemic. Extensive research was also conducted on comprehensive measures to be put in place to recover learning losses due to online teaching due to COVID-19.
Many activities were organized at both school and inter-school level to celebrate India’s glorious 75th anniversary of independence. As a culmination of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Board has organized a wide variety of cultural and educational programs at Indian School Muscat on September 3, 2022.
