Apple today released a new update to Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed the “Safari Technology Preview” to test features that may be introduced in future released versions of Safari.
Safari Technology Preview release 152 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for the web inspector, CSS, accessibility, rendering, JavaScript, and web API.
The current “Safari Technology Preview” release builds on the Safari 16 update and includes support for features added in macOS Ventura, including improvements to Live Text, Passkey, and Web Extensions.
New builds of Safari Technology Preview, unlike previous versions of Safari Technology Preview, are compatible with machines running macOS 13 Ventura, but no longer work on macOS Big Sur.
The “Safari Technology Preview” update is available to all users who have downloaded the browser through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.
The purpose of Apple’s Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on the browser development process. Safari Technology Preview runs side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and is designed for developers, but does not require a developer account to download.
